«Project Impact» CHILE Proyect Integrated in the International Network on Academic Stress Coordination Dr. BARRERA PEDEMONTE, Fabián Andrés |
Care of students’ mental health has been an ongoing concern at the University of Los Andes. This can be observed in the different activities and resources that the university has made available to students to address these issues: emergency psychological care, guidance, student support, workshops and courses, etc. In this regard, this Institutional Development Fund will help strengthen and expand the impact of what is currently being done, making available significant spaces on campus, so that the initiatives described in the project can be implemented and given continuity over time. In addition, the management team includes the Rector, the Secretary General, the Vice Rector for Students, the Academic Vice Rector and the Vice Rector for Research, and both the management and executive teams include student representatives from the Student Federation and the heads of academic and support units, which reinforces the University´s commitment to this project.
On the other hand, as described in the diagnosis, mental health care for students is a need that extends to all higher education institutions in the country. In this way, results from the interventions and from political and infrastructure improvements can be shared with other national universities and, eventually, replicated and implemented.
